INSTALLATION OF NEW EQUIPMENT FOR PORT TALBOT STEELWORKS

Systems were required to design, pre-fabricate, install and commission hydraulic pipework at the clients site – the Hot Strip Mill Section Port Talbot Steelworks Plant. The purpose of the project was to improve the flow of steel strip during the rolling process.

PROJECT DETAIL

Overview
Tata Steel Port Talbot Steelworks Plant has a 3.5 Million Tonne Steel Strip Hot Rolling Process capacity. A new project was set up to improve the flow of steel strip during the rolling process through the Finishing Stands ( F5-F11 ) to increase the overall tonnage output and meet specific targets.

Systems was required to supply of all necessary skilled labour, materials plant and equipment to install the necessary interconnecting hydraulic pipework to operate new Hydraulic Looper Lift equipment.

Flexible Planning
All new Pipework needed to be pre- fabricated at a designated workshop area in close proximity to the Hot Strip Mill, and installation work undertaken during appropriate mill shutdown periods to meet production requirements.

RESULT

Systems carefully planned out the installation to ensure Tata’s project specifications and deadlines were met without any interruption to Tata operations.
The project was completed successfully to full client satisfaction.
