CASE STUDY – OILGEAR TOWLER

Overview

Oilgear is an American hydraulics equipment company that was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1921. Oilgear is renowned for cutting-edge technology and high quality pumping products, valves, control systems, and hydraulic components. With facilities located strategically around the globe, Oilgear is well positioned to be a dependable partner in hydraulic technology.

The Oilgear facility at Leeds is the European Specialist Pump and Valve Centre and has modern manufacturing and test capabilities for multi fluid / high pressure component development.

Systems Group were commissioned for prefabrication and on-site installation of High Pressure Hydraulic Pipework for the Oilgear Towler Leeds Plant. The installation was for a power pack supplying forging press systems.

The Work entailed shop fabrication of the main Pump suction header, main pressure, and return and drain line pipework which make up the interconnecting pipework of the main hydraulic power pack.

All prefabricated pipework was measured and spooled from the layout drawings provided by design software AutoCad EstMep and Procad Isometric Software. The pipework was fabricated at our Maesteg Workshops where all Spools were pickled, oiled, painted and capped prior to shipping to Leeds. The Systems Group site installation team conducted final assembly of the power unit interconnecting pipework systems at Oilgear Towler Leeds Facility.

Systems carefully planned out the installation to ensure Oilgear’s project specifications and deadlines were met without any interruption to The Company’s operations. The project was completed successfully to full client satisfaction.
